Bone Loss Analysis Test for Men
Bone Loss Test For Men - The Bone Loss Test You Can't Afford Not To Take!
- Bone Loss Is An Invisible Problem!
- You Can Begin To Experience Bone Loss In Your Early 40's
We often assume that bone fractures die to osteoporosis is something that happens to "older" men and women. In reality, bone loss that leads to fractures begins when women are in their mid-30's and just slightly later for men. Usually, there are no outward signs or symptoms of bone loss - you just discover it when a fracture occurs. Before then, you can't see it and you can't feel it.
Are You At Risk?
Several factors can increase the likelihood that you may suffer a broken bone after age 50 due to osteoporosis.
You may be at risk if you:
- Are male, age 40+
- Are a smoker
- Are inactive
- Drink alcohol to excess
- Have a family history of osteoporosis
- Are eating an inadequate or high protein diet
- Have a frail physique
- Take certain medications such as corticosteroids, thyroid hormone or chemotherapy drugs.
Early Detection is Imperative
It is now possible to get a more definitive indication of your level of bone health and fracture risk. Our simple urine test is an easy, painless way for you to measure your bone health. The time to find out is now! Early detection is important because you can then take measures to slow and possibly even reverse your bone loss.
How The Test Works
Your bones are living tissue, constantly undergoing the dual processes of rebuilding (bone formation) and breaking down (bone resorption). When bone is breaking down, a molecule called NTx is released into your bloodstream. A by-product of the NTx molecule can be measured in your urine through the Bone Loss Analysis test.
What Is the Difference Between a Bone Scan and the Bone-Loss Analysis Test?
A bone scan, sometimes called a bone mineral density test (BMD) or DEXA, measures the density of key points in your spine, waist and hips. While a bone scan measures the density of your bones at a fixed point in time, our Bone Loss Analysis test will chart exactly how rapidly you are losing bone. With a bone scan alone, rapid bone loss often goes undetected until there may be serious damage.
What You Can Expect From The Test
You will be mailed the results within two to three weeks of receipt of your specimen at the lab, along with suggestions of possible next steps for you to consider. They might include a calcium rich diet, nutritional supplements, exercise and natural hormone replacement therapy such as the use of topical cream containing natural progesterone.
