fol·li·cle-stim·u·lat·ing hor·mone Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is an important part of the reproductive system, responsible for the growth of ovarian follicles. Follicles produce estrogen and progesterone in the ovaries and help to maintain the menstrual cycles in women. In men, FSH is a part of the development of the gonads as well as sperm production.
Your blood spot samples will test: Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) levels.
As a woman, you may want to consider this test if you:
- Want to find out if you are in Menopause
- Want to monitor POS (polycystic ovary syndrome)
- Have ovarian cysts
- Experience abnormal vaginal or menstrual bleeding
- Have problems becoming pregnant, or infertility
In men, FSH stimulates production of sperm.
As a man, you may consider this test if you:
- Have problems with infertility
- Do not have testicles or have testicles that are underdeveloped/li>

Your test results will be returned to us within 5 to 7 business days from the date the lab receives your sample. Once we know that your results are available, we will send you an email so that you can login and review them.
NOTE: Per state laws, if you live in California, you will need to email us a prescription from a medical practitioner (could be a physician, physician's assistant, naturopath etc.) in order for us to process your order and send you your test. New York residents may not receive tests per state laws. Having your tests shipped to you outside of California or New York may be the best way to go. (The Air Quality tests and Pet tests do NOT need a prescription and can be sent anywhere needed.)
Because the test kits include postage-paid return shipping, there is an extra shipping charge of $10.00 that will be added to your test order.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone, commonly referred to as FSH, is a hormone produced in the pituitary gland of both men and women and plays a huge part in fertility.
In women, FSH stimulates the growth of follicles in the ovary before an egg is released during ovulation.
During the first half of your menstrual cycle, FSH is released by the anterior pituitary gland, and stimulates maturation of eggs as well as a hormone called estradiol. Estradiol is an estrogen that is responsible for a number of functions including the growth of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and vagina.
Typically during menopause, your FSH levels will increase and your estrogen levels decrease. In addition to confirming menopause, this test can detect signs of certain pituitary disorders.
Please note that because return postage is included with this test kit, there is an extra shipping charge of $10 for kits shipped in the USA. The extra shipping charges for kits shipped outside the USA will vary according to cost/location.
