Luteinizing hormone (LH ) is a gonadotropin (a hormone that affects the function of the sex organs) released by the pituitary gland. In women, LH controls the length and sequence of the menstrual cycle, including ovulation, preparation of the uterus for implantation of a fertilized egg, and ovarian production of both estrogen and progesterone. In men, LH stimulates the testes to produce androgen. Also known as interstitial-cell-stimulating hormone (ICSH).

Your blood spot samples will test: LH (Luteinizing Hormone)levels.

As a woman, you may want to consider this test if you:

  • Are having difficulty getting pregnant
  • Have irregular or absent menstrual periods
  • Suspect that you have started menopause
  • Have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Experience menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, night sweats, foggy thinking, or depression
  • Want to find out if LH is the cause for a girl who seems to be entering puberty too early or too late

As a man, you may want to consider this test if you:

  • Have signs of low testosterone levels, such as low muscle mass or decrease in libido
  • Suspect you have a pituitary disorder
  • Experience a lack of energy
  • Have Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
  • Have mood swings, irritability, depression or decreased quality of life
  • Have bone loss
  • Have a low sperm count
  • Want to find out if LH is the cause for a boy who seems to be entering puberty too late or too soon.

Everything you need to collect your sample and return it to the lab is included in the test kit you will receive.

You can review these illustrated Collection Instructions now or wait to receive them in your package.

Your test results will be returned to us within 5 to 7 business days from the date the lab receives your sample. Once we know that your results are available, we will send you an email so that you can login and review them.

NOTE: Per state laws, if you live in California, you will need to email us a prescription from a medical practitioner (could be a physician, physician's assistant, naturopath etc.) in order for us to process your order and send you your test. New York residents may not receive tests per state laws. Having your tests shipped to you outside of California or New York may be the best way to go. (The Air Quality tests and Pet tests do NOT need a prescription and can be sent anywhere needed.)

Because the test kits include postage-paid return shipping, there is an extra shipping charge of $10.00 that will be added to your test order.

The LH Blood Spot home test measures the amount of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in your bloodstream. LH is produced in the pituitary gland, located at the base of the brain. This hormone is known as a gonadotropin, and it affects the sex organs in both men and women.

In women, the amount of LH in the bloodstream varies throughout the menstrual cycle and changes with pregnancy. LH plays a role in puberty, menstruation, and fertility. It partners with the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), another gonadotropin also made in the pituitary gland. When there is a rise in estrogen, your pituitary gland is signaled to stop producing FSH and to start making more LH. Increased LH makes the egg release from the ovary, which is known as ovulation. In the empty follicle, cells proliferate, turning it into a corpus luteum which releases progesterone, a hormone necessary to maintain pregnancy. If pregnancy doesnt occur, the levels of progesterone drop off and the cycle begins again.

LH is a marker that helps determine the causes of infertility, as well as the beginning of menopause in women and andropause in men.

Knowing the amount of LH in your blood can indicate underlying problems associated with a variety of reproductive health issues.

Please note that because return postage is included with this test kit, there is an extra shipping charge of $10 for kits shipped in the USA. The extra shipping charges for kits shipped outside the USA will vary according to cost/location. (This extra charge is NOT added to the Canine Health Check Test Kit or Any of the Air Quality Test Kits.

Everything you need to collect your sample and return it to the lab is included. You should receive your results approximately 5 to 7 business days after the lab has received your sample. There are no additional lab or postage fees required after test purchase.

This is a safe, easy to use home blood spot test for men and women of any age.
