Molds are types of fungi that grow in the natural environment and tiny particles of molds are found everywhere in indoor and outdoor air.
In nature, molds help break down dead materials, and can be found growing on soil, foods, plants and other items. Molds are also very common in buildings and homes. Mold needs moisture to grow so indoors, mold growth can be found where humidity levels are high, like basements and showers.
Molds produce microscopic cells called “spores” that are spread easily through the air and can also be spread by water and insects. Live spores act like seeds, forming new mold colonies when they find the right conditions. Mold may cause severe health and hygiene problems.

Fungal Screening Directions:
The Fungal Culture Test Kit uses a swab culture technique, (Bio-Vial), to assist in identifying, and providing concentration levels of fungi. Complete instructions will be available in your test.
Concentration levels of fungi are reported in Colony Forming Units (CFU), and are compared to what is considered to be normal. Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory (EDLab), will provide a final report. If you would like the additional tests for Speciation Identification of three predominant types, they can be performed for an additional fee.
Once EDLab receives the Bio-Vial sample for analysis, your lab report will be generated and emailed within 10-14 days.
